Where Westmoreland Spends Your Money Per Student:

Westmoreland is spending less overall....BUT as you can see from the breakdown below, they spend LESS PER STUDENT on actual INSTRUCTION, yet they spend MORE for ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS!!! And the "OTHER EXPENDITURES" is higher as well.....Makes one wonder, do the students really come first?

According to the link you give, "Other Expenditures" includes "operations (utilities, maintenance and security), food service, and the salaries of support staff such as bus drivers and cafeteria workers." One would assume that providing students with electricity, heat, water, food, and transportation is putting basic needs of students first.

  2. Yes, that's true but as you can see comapred to other local schools we spend significantly more. Other expenditures can cover a broad range of expenses...Those are possible examples (utilities etc...) Why does Westmoreland spend less towards instruction than the comp schools listed and less than the state average? The school taxes in this district are on the higher end, so it doesn't make too much sense.
